Donna McVety R.N, MSN, Ph.D

Dr. Donna McVety has 30 years of diverse experience in health care, real estate investment and business involving teaching, training and development, administration, sales, marketing, and fundraising. Recently, she successfully completed a seven year contract with the University of Vermont as Executive Director of the Lee County Breast Screening Program, a national model project. Dr. McVety, who was also a research professor in the School of Medicine of the University of Vermont, has been a resident of Lee County since 1985. She is the past president of the Florida Nurses' Association, District 7 and chairman of the annual clinical excellence conference for nursing practice, held regionally for Lee, Charlotte and Hendry counties. Donna retired from nursing in 1997 and works full time in her firm, Realty Services as a real estate professional and investor.
She earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Manitoba in Canada, Master of Science in Nursing from New York University and University of Wisconsin at Madison, and her Ph.D. in Health Services from Walden University in Minneapolis. Dr. McVety is the author of 30 publications on health education, training and development and research. Prior to joining the Lee County Breast Screening Program, she was director of Project Respite, a government-sponsored program in Lee County to assist families of handicapped and disabled children. She also has served as director of staff development for Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center, and as an assistant professor in health services with the University of Ottawa in Canada.
She worked with Nova University for five years as cluster coordinator and adjunct Faculty teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's program of the Friedt School of Business.
She has served on the boards of the following organizations: Lee County Breast Screening Program, Florida Breast & Cervical Cancer Coalition, Association of Provider Organizations in Lee County, Florida Nurses' Association, Planned Giving Council, Jonathan Harbor Townhome Association, Gulf Coast Society of Fund Raising Executives, Olsten-Upjohn Health Care Services, Florida Alliance of 100 Plus for Health Care Manpower, Allied Health Career Development Coalition of Southwest Florida, Inc., and American Society for Training & Development, Fort Myers Chapter. Dr. McVety was selected to participate in the 1994 Leadership Lee County Program and was a nominee and finalist for the 1996 Distinguished Leadership Award of the National Association for Community Leadership.
Donna specializes in lease options, owner financing and financially distressed properties.
